abstract = {Worries about mental illness keep rising across the world, yet help often comes too late or not at all. Because of this gap, smart computer systems have started stepping into roles once held only by people. Spotting signs early, tracking changes day by day, reaching more individuals - these tasks now lean on automated tools. A close look at recent work reveals how machines assist in testing symptoms, mapping behaviour patterns, talking with users, even guiding professionals during diagnosis. Still, holes remain in what researchers truly understand about long-term effects and fairness. To move forward without repeating mistakes, one new idea offers structure: SAFE-AI sets guardrails for building tech that's fair, transparent, and built to grow responsibly. When paired with trained caregivers and clear rules, artificial intelligence doesn’t replace - it supports. Outcomes improve most when code works beside compassion. Ethics cannot be an afterthought if trust is to take root. Progress means blending innovation with accountability, nothing less.},
