Impact of Nutritional Education Intervention on Knowledge, Attitude, Practices, and Nutrient Intake Related to Obesity Management

  • Obesity is an escalating public health issue among college-going girls, driven by unhealthy dietary patterns, sedentary lifestyles, and lifestyle transitions during adolescence and early adulthood. This interventional study assessed the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) related to nutrition and physical activity among overweight and obese college-going girls before and after a structured nutritional intervention. The findings indicate that low awareness, high consumption of fast foods, insufficient physical activity, and excessive screen time contribute significantly to poor health outcomes and increased risk of metabolic disorders. Post-intervention results demonstrated notable improvements in knowledge, attitudes, and health-related practices, highlighting the effectiveness of nutrition education and physical activity promotion in fostering positive behavioral changes. The study further emphasizes the importance of early and sustained interventions, incorporating psychological, cultural, and environmental considerations, along with personalized nutrition strategies and institutional support. Overall, a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach is essential to promote long-term healthy behaviors and reduce the burden of obesity and related non-communicable diseases among college-going girls.
