abstract = {Industrialization and urbanization are major contributors of heavy metal pollution on and as well as water bodies , which should be controlled by scientific, novel , efficient and environmentally friendly methods. Heavy metal pollution poses a serious threat to all forms of life in the environment due to the toxic effects of long-term environmental pollution. These metals are extremely sensitive at low concentrations and can be stored in food webs, posing a serious publichealth risk. Different organic pollutants and metals are not degradable and remain in their environment for a long time. Biological based heavy metal removal techniques are for efficient and environmentally friendly compared to the physical and chemical techniques which are uneconomical and produces large volumes of chemical waste . The balance of hazardous metal shown a strong and growing interest over the years. It is necessary to use microbial tools to remove, recover metals, and metal-loids from solutions using living or dead biomass and their components to stop heavy metal contamination in our environment .We have looked into the fast-emerging technique for biological removal of heavy metals.One type of which is bioremediation which uses of bacteria in the form of bioaugmentation , bioventing and bio filters to with removal of potential heavy metals ranging from 60 to 95 % in 48 to 96 hours . other methods include mycoremediation, phycoremediation etc are reportedly used for the removal of heavy metal contained in waste water . Therefore, microorganisms have a variety of mechanisms of metal sequestration that hold greater metal biosorption capacities. From microbial tools to remove, recover metals, and metalloids from solution susing living or dead biomass and their components. So it maybe concluded that the bioremediation and phycoremediation techniques are the most efficient and time saving techniques that can be employed to treat heavy metals form water.},
