abstract = {The rapid growth of smart technologies has created a demand for automated solutions to improve efficiency in retail environments. This paper presents the design and implementation of an IoT-based Smart Shopping Trolley system aimed at reducing billing time and minimizing manual errors in supermarkets and shopping malls. The proposed system utilizes RFID technology to automatically detect products added to or removed from the trolley and update the billing information in real time. A microcontroller processes the product data and displays the total item count and cost on an LCD unit for customer awareness. Wireless communication is employed to transmit billing details to a receiver module, eliminating the need for traditional checkout counters. Additionally, the system integrates GSM and Wi-Fi modules to provide mobile alerts and web-based monitoring of shopping transactions. The entire system is developed using embedded hardware components and programmed using Arduino-based software tools. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed approach significantly reduces checkout delays, improves billing accuracy, and enhances the overall shopping experience.
