Contactless Switch for Home and Offices

  • The increasing demand for hygienic, safe, and intelligent automation systems has accelerated the development of contactless control technologies for homes and offices. Traditional electrical switches require direct physical interaction, which creates hygiene concerns, accessibility limitations, and mechanical wear over time. This paper presents the design and implementation of a contactless switching system using Arduino UNO, infrared proximity sensors, and relay modules for sequential control of multiple electrical loads. The proposed system uses E18-D80NK infrared sensors to detect hand gestures without physical contact and controls AC appliances through a 4-channel relay module. The loads operate sequentially in forward and reverse order, enabling efficient and organized control. The system improves hygiene, accessibility, safety, and convenience while maintaining low cost and simple implementation. Experimental results demonstrate reliable gesture detection, stable switching performance, and reduced response delay. The proposed solution offers an affordable and scalable approach for smart homes, public spaces, hospitals, offices, and educational institutions
