Automatic Stamping and Labelling System Using PLC

  • Industrial automation demands efficient, reliable, and repeatable processes. Manual stamping and labelling on product boxes are a time-consuming operation prone to human error, inconsistency, and reduced throughput. This paper presents the design and implementation of an Automatic Stamping and Labelling System using a Siemens Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The system employs an infrared (IR) sensor to detect boxes moving on a conveyor belt, followed by automatic actuation of a pneumatic cylinder through a solenoid valve for stamping, and then continues the conveyor for subsequent labelling operations. A relay-driving circuit using a transistor (BC547), diodes (1N4007), a voltage regulator IC (7805), resistors, and capacitors form the interfacing electronics between the PLC outputs and the actuators. The PLC ladder logic controls the complete sequential operation with precise timing. The proposed system significantly reduces manual intervention, improves product traceability, and increases production efficiency in industrial packaging lines.
