  • Abstract:
  • This study examines the critical role of Performance Management (PM) as a core component of Strategic Human Resource Development (SHRD). In the contemporary business environment, organizations must ensure their workforce is not only skilled but also strategically aligned. This paper argues that when effectively designed, performance management systems transcend their traditional administrative function to become powerful drivers of strategic human resource development. By shifting from a purely evaluative mechanism to a developmental partnership, PM facilitates the identification of competency gaps and fosters a culture of continuous learning. Through a review of existing literature and secondary data analysis, this research explores the theoretical underpinnings of SHRD, the evolution of performance management, and the mechanisms through which their integration yields enhanced organizational performance. The findings suggest that a strategically integrated PM system is indispensable for aligning individual performance with long-term business objectives.
