A Survey on Manufacturing Processes

  • Manufacturing processes are the foundation of Industrial Production, enabling the transformation of raw materials into functional products with desired shapes, properties and performance. The developments of these processes have been closely tied to human technological progress, from simple manual techniques to highly automated and intelligence systems. Manufacturing processes have evolved from manual craftsmanship to intelligent, automated systems, driven by advances in materials, energy utilization and digital technologies and continue to play a central role in shaping modern industry and sustainable development. The objectives of the paper are to review and classify manufacturing processes, to compare their performance and applications, to evaluate sustainability and efficiency, to analyse recent Technological advancements with identification of research gaps and future directions. The methods will be used for the survey are literature search from major databases, data extraction and classification with comparative and sustainable analysis. The survey on manufacturing processes results that while traditional manufacturing processes remain dominant in large scale production, emerging Technologies such as additive manufacturing and smart systems are reshaping the field, with sustainability and efficiency becoming critical decision factors. The conclusion of this research paper is manufacturing processes continue to evolve from conventional methods to advance digitalized systems. While traditional techniques remain essential for mass production, modern approaches like additive manufacturing and smart systems are driving innovation. The selection of appropriate processes depends on balancing cost, quality and sustainability, with future research focusing on Energy Efficiency, material development and intelligent manufacturing integration.
