        abstract = {Conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as “pink eye,” is among the most frequent ocular disorders encountered in clinical practice worldwide. It affects individuals across all age groups and socioeconomic backgrounds, contributing significantly to outpatient visits and public health burden. This thesis provides a comprehensive evaluation of the prevalence, etiological spectrum, clinical features, diagnostic approaches, complications, and management strategies of conjunctivitis. A hospital-based cross-sectional observational study was conducted on 150 patients presenting to the ophthalmology outpatient department (OPD). Data were collected through detailed history taking, clinical examination, and selective laboratory investigations. The findings demonstrate that viral conjunctivitis is the most prevalent form, followed by bacterial and allergic conjunctivitis. Environmental factors, hygiene practices, seasonal variation, and population density significantly influence disease occurrence. The study emphasizes that accurate diagnosis is essential for appropriate management and prevention of unnecessary antibiotic usage. Public health interventions, patient education, and adherence to hygiene practices are critical in reducing transmission and recurrence. This thesis highlights the importance of evidence-based clinical decision making and preventive ophthalmology.},
