  • Abstract:
  • Consanguineous marriage is a prevalent culture in most societies and poses serious genetic and health implications. The adolescents are usually not well informed about these effects, and educational interventions are necessary. The goal of the study is to find out how well high school students at one particular university learned about consanguinity marriage through a drama-based education program. Fifty teenagers were recruited using a purposive sampling technique, and there is a pre- and post-test design in the quantitative methodology. Data were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics derived from a structured questionnaire. The results indicated that there is a significant increase in knowledge scores after test as opposed to the pre-test scores, which showed the efficiency of drama-based instructions. The study shows that interactive and participatory pedagogical approaches have the potential to increase the level of adolescent awareness about sensitive socio-health topics and make them make informed decisions. The use of drama-based interventions in the context of health education can help achieve better reproductive health awareness and genetic disorders prevention.
