        abstract = {Conjunctivitis, commonly referred to as “pink eye,” is one of the most prevalent ocular disorders encountered in optometric practice. It encompasses a broad spectrum of inflammatory conditions affecting the conjunctiva, caused by infectious agents (viral, bacterial) and non-infectious mechanisms (allergic, toxic, immune-mediated). This thesis examines the epidemiology, prevalence patterns, etiological classification, clinical features, diagnostic approaches, and management strategies of conjunctivitis.
Globally, conjunctivitis accounts for a significant proportion of eye-related consultations, with viral conjunctivitis being the most common form, followed by bacterial and allergic types. Seasonal variation, age distribution, and environmental exposure play critical roles in disease occurrence. Management strategies vary based on etiology, ranging from supportive therapy in viral cases to antibiotic therapy in bacterial infections and antihistamines in allergic conjunctivitis.
This study emphasizes the importance of accurate diagnosis, rational drug use, patient education, and preventive strategies in reducing disease burden and complications.},
