abstract = {Railway transportation is one of the most widely used and economical modes of transport, but track faults such as cracks and misalignment remain major causes of accidents. Conventional inspection methods are manual, time-consuming, and prone to human error. This paper presents an automated railway track crack detection system using an IR sensor integrated with GPS and GSM modules for real-time monitoring and alert generation. The system detects track discontinuities based on variations in infrared signal reflection and employs a threshold-based algorithm for accurate fault identification. Upon detection of a crack, the system transmits the exact location coordinates to the concerned authority through GSM communication. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves satisfactory accuracy with fast response time. The system is cost-effective, reliable, and suitable for practical implementation in railway safety applications.},
