  • Abstract:
  • There is a need for a centralized and automated home security system that analyzes data from certain sensors and identifies potential threats. This system will enhance user experience by notifying homeowners of hazards as they arise and attempt to prevent them by offering personalized, data-driven, and sensor-based interventions. If a user is at risk, they will be the first to know. This lab aims to create the world’s first innovative Smart Home Security System (SHSS) powered by the Internet of Things (IoT) to detect different categories of hazards, SMSS along with real-time personalized alerts and recommended courses of action, which will be determined based on sensor data from an MQ2 gas and smoke sensor, PIR, and a facial recognition system paired with an anti-burglary system, a flame sensor, a water level sensor to detect flood, a vibration sensor to detect earthquake, data analytical processing powered by Raspberry Pi technology, and real time alerts will be received through SMS services and direct hosting on Raspberry Pi. This data which is received from sensors in the area will be collected in a centralized system, and will be successfully conveyed to homeowners. The hardware is powered through solar energy, thus offering an environmentally sustainable system. This project aims to demonstrate the efficacy of these systems during real life circumstances.
