        abstract = {This research aimed to reflect on the transformations to the workforce resulting from the deployment/implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in urban parking systems, focusing on Gweru City Parking in Zimbabwe. The research explored the transformation of roles for parking attendants to roles of remote monitoring and digital surveillance using AI components, and reflected on the implications for employees in terms of new skills sets required, reskilling programmes and employee satisfaction and engagement. The research used a qualitative and quantitative case study methods to contribute to knowledge on the implications of AI on workforce changes and the implications for service delivery in the urban services sector. Overall, the research revealed a marked shift away from specific job elements and provided evidence for the emergence of many new skills sets, examples of employees adopting the technology and employees engaged with varying degrees in the adoption of the changing technologies. This research also provided a valuable contribution to municipal authorities, human resource practitioners, observers, and completed the literature concerning the wider public policy and business environment and discussions surrounding the adoption and integration of AI into public service delivery.},
