abstract = {Existing study was aimed to analyze input use pattern, costs, returns and profitability in Brinjal KKM 1 production of Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu. The sample of 60 Brinjal growers were selected from study area 20 in each district for which input-output data were collected in the year 2023-24. Standard cost concept was used to study the cost of cultivation, to analyze the data in the present study tabular analysis, and frequency and Garet’s Ranking Technique method were used. The results of study revealed that per hectare total cost with regards to Brinjal KKM 1 was Rs. 1,16,110/- while cost A was Rs. 61,825/- and cost B was Rs. 1,04,610/-. The different measures of farm income were also estimated at their respective costs, benefit cost ratio and per quintal cost of production. Gross return was Rs. 2,63,200/-. It was clear that, farm business income, family labour income and net profit were Rs. 2,01,375/-, Rs. 1,58,590/- and Rs. 1,47,090/-, respectively. It was clear that; Benefit Cost Ratio was 2.26 in brinjal farm. Per quintal cost of production of brinjal was Rs. 782. Majority (60 per cent) of the respondents in the study area were cent percent satisfied with brinjal KKM 1 cultivation. The major problems in cultivation of brinjal were lack of water for irrigation, non-availability of credit, lack of scientific knowledge among farmers, high cost of seeds, pests and diseases, awareness on optimum use of fertilizers, and high cost of labour etc., Government and extension agencies should ensure the proper distribution of soil health card and create awareness on how to use, how much to use and when to use the fertilizers. Awareness should be created among the farmers for pest, disease and weed infestation and their management. For this, cost effective and easy to prepare organic pesticides should be made popular in the villages via large scale demonstration in agricultural fairs and awareness campaign.},
