  • Abstract:
  • For the production of ethanol from micro and macro algae, the selected species of algae are chosen to increase the efficiency of the manufacturing process and to decrease the cost of manufacturing ethanol. The present research was carried out in the freshwater region of Solapur district, Maharashtra, from 2021 to 2023. The algae and water samples were collected from the lakes and rivers of Solapur district to study the effect of water quality parameters on the growth and diversity of freshwater microalgae. During the study period, the algae were collected in September, due to the favourable season and availability of algae. The collected micro algae were identified by a standard microscopy method using key references and with the help of a taxonomist. The physical and chemical parameters of water were analysed by the standard method of APHA. The main objective of the present research was to conduct extensive research on the collection and identification of diverse algal species in a coastal region to determine algal diversity, to determine the water quality standard, and to measure the occurrence of algae in water.
