  • Abstract:
  • Emotional Well-being is basic component of human health and it closely to associate with psychological, physical and social functioning and overall quality of life. In modern society, level of stress, anxiety and emotional disturbance have become major concern that can affecting the people across different age groups. These challenges have encouraged researchers and practitioners to explore holistic and integrative approaches for promoting mental and emotional health. Yoga, a traditional Indian practice rooted in ancient philosophical traditions, has gained global recognition as a comprehensive system that supports physical, mental, and emotional balance. The present paper reviews existing literature on the relationship between yoga and emotional well-being. The review includes empirical studies that examine the influence of yoga practices such as asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), and meditation on stress management, emotional regulation, and psychological stability. These practices have been widely recognized for their potential to reduce anxiety, enhance mental clarity, and promote overall psychological health. In addition to contemporary research evidence, the paper also discusses the conceptual foundation of yoga from the perspective of Indian yogic philosophy, particularly ideas derived from classical texts such as the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali and the Bhagavat Gita, which emphasise the regulation of mental fluctuation and the attainment of inner harmony. By integrating the insights from scientific research and traditional philosophical perspectives, this paper highlights the role of yoga as a holistic approach for enhancing emotional well-being. The review suggests that regular yoga practices may contribute to improved emotional control, reduced psychological distress, and greater mental harmony. The paper also emphasised the importance of further research to strengthen the evidence base and to explore the application of yoga-based approaches in education, therapeutic and community settings.
