  • Abstract:
  • The development of massive surface waste dumps in the Quang Ninh coal region has significantly altered the stress state of underlying rock masses, imposing "artificial pressure" on underground roadways. This paper investigates the mechanical behavior of steel support structures in roadways located beneath these dumps. Using numerical modeling (Phase2 software), we analyze the influence of the relative position of the roadway on internal forces (bending moment M and axial force N). Two profiles-circular and straight-wall semi-circular arch-are compared. Results indicate that internal forces increase proportionally with the dump's unit weight and height. Circular supports demonstrate superior stability and lower peak internal forces compared to arched structures.
