  • Pharmacogenomics is an emerging field that combines pharmacology and genomics to understand how genetic variations influence individual responses to drugs. Personalized medicine aims to provide the right medication at the right dose to the right patient based on genetic makeup, environmental factors, and lifestyle. Genetic polymorphisms significantly affect drug metabolism, efficacy, and toxicity, leading to variations in therapeutic outcomes among patients. Pharmacogenomics helps in reducing adverse drug reactions, improving drug efficacy, and optimizing treatment plans. This review discusses the role of genetic variation in drug response, important pharmacogenomic biomarkers, clinical applications, advantages, challenges, and future prospects of personalized medicine in healthcare.
