        abstract = {Background: Safe motherhood is a critical public health priority aimed at reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Awareness among antenatal mothers is a key determinant in the utilization of maternal healthcare services.
Objectives: To assess the level of awareness regarding safe motherhood among antenatal mothers and to determine its association with selected socio-demographic variables.
Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 120 antenatal mothers in selected areas of Vijayapur city, Karnataka. Participants were selected using non-probability convenience sampling. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire. Descriptive and inferential statistics (Chi-square test) were applied.
Results: Among the participants, 42% had moderate awareness, 35% had good awareness, and 23% had poor awareness regarding safe motherhood. Significant associations were found between awareness levels and educational status (p < 0.05), parity, and previous exposure to antenatal education.
Conclusion: The study revealed moderate awareness among antenatal mothers, with notable gaps in knowledge regarding danger signs and maternal health schemes. Strengthening antenatal education and community-based interventions is recommended.},
