  • Abstract:
  • This paper offers a thorough look at how cloud computing is reshaping the e-commerce landscape. We examine the architectural underpinnings of modern e-commerce platforms, weigh the operational pros and cons, and explore the security challenges that come with moving to the cloud. Our goal is to serve as a practical reference for academics, business leaders, and organizations that want to make the most of what cloud technology has to offer. Drawing on a range of recent case studies, published articles, and industry reports, we found compelling benefits: better scalability, stronger performance, and real cost savings. Our findings show that companies can cut infrastructure-related expenses by as much as 90% and handle seasonal traffic surges far more gracefully when they embrace cloud technology. That said, we also identified serious hurdles that persist, including data security vulnerabilities, ongoing compliance headaches, and a shortage of skilled cloud professionals. According to the latest research, more than 40% of all security incidents are linked to cloud environments, and misconfiguration alone accounts for over 15% of cloud-related data breaches [6]. The paper wraps up with practical guidance for organizations considering a cloud migration, along with a look at emerging technologies such as edge computing, AI-driven resource management, and the sustainability questions that cloud adoption raises. In doing so, this research aims to be both a hands-on resource for e-commerce professionals and a meaningful contribution to our academic understanding of integrated technologies within digital business models.
