  • Abstract:
  • This paper presents a simple left-to-right multiplication method based on digit products, last digits, and front-part carry correction. In this method, each digit of the multiplicand is multiplied by the multiplier from left to right. The first digit product is written fully. For the remaining digit products, the last digit is written directly. If a product has only one digit, no extra correction is needed, because it is already fully included. If a product has two or more digits, its front part is added later in the correct place value. For multi-digit multipliers, the multiplier is treated digit by digit, and the same method is applied row by row with place shifting. The method gives a clear visual form of carry handling and may be useful for mental arithmetic and elementary mathematics teaching.
