abstract = {Body shaming has emerged as a significant social and psychological issue among adolescents, particularly due to increasing exposure to unrealistic beauty standards through social media, peer interactions, and societal expectations. Adolescence is a critical developmental stage in which physical appearance strongly influences self-perception, emotional well-being, and social behavior. This study examines the psychological correlates of body shaming, focusing on self-esteem, self-confidence, and social anxiety among adolescents. The research aims to investigate how experiences of body shaming affect adolescents’ mental and emotional health and to identify the relationship between negative body-related comments and psychological distress. The study adopts a quantitative research approach using survey-based data collection methods. Standardized psychological assessment scales are used to measure levels of self-esteem, self-confidence, and social anxiety among adolescent participants from schools and colleges. Statistical analysis is performed to evaluate correlations between body shaming experiences and psychological outcomes. The findings indicate that adolescents who frequently experience body shaming tend to exhibit lower self-esteem and reduced self-confidence, along with higher levels of social anxiety. The study also reveals that repeated exposure to appearance-based criticism negatively impacts interpersonal relationships, academic participation, and overall emotional stability. Furthermore, the research highlights the role of family environment, peer influence, and social media exposure in intensifying body image concerns among adolescents. The study emphasizes the importance of awareness programs, counseling support, and positive body image education to reduce the harmful effects of body shaming. The proposed research contributes to understanding the psychological impact of body shaming and provides recommendations for educators, parents, mental health professionals, and policymakers to promote healthy self-image and emotional well-being among adolescents.},
