A significant component of Indian legislation that aims to protect the health, safety and welfare of factory workers is the Factories Act, 1948. In order to guarantee that employees receive fair treatment and operate in secure circumstances, it establishes the framework for monitoring labour conditions in industrial facilities. By creating welfare facilities, enforcing safety regulations, and standardising working hours, the Act is essential in promoting a harmonious collaboration between both employers and workers. the goal of the Factories Act is to ensure factory workers’ health, safety, welfare, and adequate working conditions. It governs working hours, the employment of women and young people, safety precautions, and welfare benefits to protect employees from exploitation and occupational risks. The Act fosters industrial efficiency by providing a safe and healthy work environment, as well as assisting employers and employees in maintaining harmonious relations. As a result, the Factories Act is critical in protecting workers’ rights and promoting socially responsible industrial development. The Factories Act has considerably improved factory workers’ health, safety, and wellbeing. It maintains safe and sanitary working conditions, protects against accidents and occupational dangers, and offers welfare amenities such as drinking water, canteens, restrooms, and first-aid services. By enforcing these regulations, the Act not only protects workers’ physical and mental health, but also improves their efficiency and production.
