Headaches that reoccur easily, particularly in women. It typically occurs once a week, although it can recur every few years or at shorter intervals. It might last anywhere from a few hours to three days, depending on the intensity of the discomfort. Morning headaches typically affect only one side of the head, most notably the forehead. Headaches are common and can be extremely unpleasant. These disorders are the leading cause of headaches, accounting for 95% or more of all headache symptoms. Rapidly disintegrating sublingual tablets, which use cutting-edge technology, are a novel method of oral medication delivery.
This review summarizes the benefits of sublingual formulations, their mechanism of action, route of administration, factors affecting drug permeability, in vitro evaluation parameters, and commercially accessible sublingual dosage forms. Sublingual technologies meet the needs of pharmaceutical businesses and patients, including pediatric, geriatric, and mental patients, as well as those with dysphagia. As a result, several scientific procedures have been used to develop sublingual tablets, such as freeze drying, molding, spray drying, sublimation, direct compression, mass extrusion, and the melt granulation method.
The addition of Super disintegrants enhanced rapid disintegration, and this method is frequently required to treat acute diseases or emergency conditions with a quick onset of action. Sublingual administration is frequently utilized for medications that go through first-pass metabolism or degradation in the gastrointestinal tract.
