abstract = {Microbial biotechnology has emerged as one of the most significant scientific disciplines contributing to sustainable development across healthcare, agriculture, food production, and environmental management. Microorganisms possess remarkable metabolic diversity, enabling their application in the production of antibiotics, vaccines, enzymes, biofertilizers, biofuels, probiotics, and environmentally friendly waste treatment technologies. Recent advances in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, synthetic biology, and genome editing technologies have expanded the scope of microbial biotechnology beyond conventional industrial microbiology. This review paper discusses the role of microbial biotechnology in improving human health through pharmaceutical products, enhancing agricultural productivity using biofertilizers and biopesticides, ensuring food safety through microbial fermentation, and protecting the environment through bioremediation and wastewater treatment. Furthermore, the paper highlights emerging technologies such as CRISPR-based microbial engineering, metagenomics, microbiome research, and artificial intelligence-assisted microbial analysis. The study is based on published scientific literature collected from peer-reviewed journals, books, and international research databases. The findings indicate that microbial biotechnology will continue to play a critical role in achieving sustainable development goals while addressing global challenges related to health, food security, environmental pollution, and climate change.},
