        abstract = {The recent development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media has significantly altered political communication and posed immense challenges to free speech, misinformation, and electoral integrity in India. This study explored how digital constitutionalism, the spread of misinformation through AI, algorithmic amplification and deep fakes relate to democratic governance in India. This study was conducted with a qualitative research approach, descriptive and explanatory research design and multiple secondary data obtained from scholarly articles, legal judgment, policy documents and government reports. It found that public discourse, voter autonomy and electoral fairness were significantly impacted by AI-generated misinformation and social media manipulation, as well as highlighting gaps in current policy and regulatory frameworks. The study highlighted the importance of establishing a "balanced co-regulatory framework" to ensure the protection of democratic values, comprising constitutional protection, platform responsibilities, transparency in AI governance, and digital literacy. It had found that collaborative governance, which features India's governments, technology platforms, civil society and autonomous bodies are crucial for promoting the responsible usage of AI and maintaining the integrity of democracy in India's changing digital landscape.},
