abstract = {HIV/AIDS is a chronic condition that affects not only the physical health of an individual but also the psychological dimensions of well-being, particularly self-esteem. This study assessed the effectiveness of a holistic intervention module on self-esteem among HIV positive persons attending a selected AIDS centre in Bangalore. A quasi-experimental, two-group pre-test post-test design was adopted. Sixty HIV positive persons (30 experimental, 30 control) were selected by convenience sampling. Self-esteem was measured using the standardized Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. The experimental group received a structured holistic intervention module, while the control group received no intervention. Post-test mean self-esteem score in the experimental group (21.60 ± 3.06) was significantly higher than in the control group (16.90 ± 4.88), t = 3.86, p = 0.001. Within the experimental group, the post-test score was significantly higher than the pre-test score (t = 13.55, p = 0.001), whereas the control group showed no significant pre-post change (t = 1.91, p = 0.066). No significant association was found between pre-test self-esteem scores and selected demographic variables. The findings indicate that a structured holistic intervention module is effective in improving self-esteem among HIV positive persons and can be incorporated into routine holistic nursing care.},
