        abstract = {The issues of gender inequality, resistance, identity and social change are explored through literature written by the women from the present day in India. The present paper explores the portrayal of women in some of the works of Meena Kandasamy, Anita Nair and Githa Hariharan. Their authorship, their words, depict women who rebel against Patriarchal traditions and challenge the expectations of society within the framework of the quest for personal freedoms and personal dignity. The study will be based on the social and cultural oppression faced by females and how resistance towards them can bring about transformation in the society. The paper aims to claim that the writers are questioning the fixed gender roles that have been created and issuing their voices by the use of literature in the context of the contemporary India.},
