  • Abstract:
  • For the need for development of non- toxic, cost-effective, readily available and eco- friendly corrosion inhibitor, this review deals with the study of various researches related to corrosion inhibition of mild steel with an emphasis on acidic media by green inhibitor. Plant extracts derived from the leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, and other plant matter from various plants have revealed to have excellent anticorrosive properties. The inhibition efficiency ranged between 30-80% with different inhibitor concentrations in acidic environments. This review provides information about different methods of extract preparation, chemical composition of the various green inhibitor, active component and the corrosion inhibition mechanism of the green inhibitor. the component of inhibitor gets adsorbed on the metal surface and form a barrier film over its surface. It also provides the information about the factors by which corrosion inhibition efficiency of the green inhibitor can affected. It was found that the inhibition efficiency reaches up to a maximum of 90% for green inhibitors in an acidic medium of HCl and H2SO4.
