  • Abstract:
  • The 21st century has brought new challenges and opportunities for UNESCO. This paper reassesses the role of this international organization in the context of globalization and information society, climate change, and social inequality. It explores its historical role and current areas of operation, including education, culture and heritage, and science and technology, and analyzes new demands in these spheres. In addition, opportunities for UNESCO are considered, including digital learning and AI, global partnerships, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and cultural diplomacy. This paper concludes that UNESCO is a relevant agent in modern globalization and that its effectiveness and impact on society depend on its ability to adapt to emerging trends. Policy recommendations are made to promote inclusive digital transformation, responsible AI, partnerships, community engagement, and climate resilience through science and data-informed policies.
