Abstract
A solar air heater is very useful for low grade thermal energy applications. It has wide usage in the area of space heating and drying of agricultural products, curing of timbers etc. due to its low cost, simple construction and easier to use. The thermal efficiency of flat plate solar air heater is found to be poor due to low heat transfer coefficient between air and the heat absorbing plate. Methodology of artificial roughness is considered to be a good technique for enhancing rate of heat transfer between absorber plate and air flowing through duct of solar air heater. In this paper, a brief review on the numerical analysis has been carried out for discrete multi V-shaped and staggered rib roughness surface absorber plate on the basis of previous research papers.
