Abstract
Heat exchangers such as shell-and-tube, plate type and finned tube are used in various industries for different applications such as heating, cooling, condensation or evaporation process. The present work deals with the numerical investigation of heat and fluid flow in shell and tube heat exchanger with different numbers of baffles on shell side. Three different heat exchangers containing 3, 4 and 5 baffles are investigated numerically by modelling a full length continuous helical baffled shell-and-tube heat exchanger for constant mass flow rates and different cold fluid inlet temperature conditions. Thus, the objective of the present study is “to examines the thermo-hydraulic performance of a shell and tube heat exchanger with different number (i.e. for three, four and five) of flat plate baffles using numerical along with experimental validation”
