Abstract
Efficient turning of EN8 steel material can be achieved through proper selection of turning process parameters to maximize material removal rate and minimum surface roughness. For this achievement, design of experiments (DOE) has been used to study the effects of machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed, depth of cut on the surface roughness and material removal rate of EN8 steel. A mathematical prediction model of the surface roughness and material removal rate has been developed in terms of the above parameters and also the effect of these parameters on the surface roughness and material removal rate has been investigated by using response surface methodology (RSM). Prediction models are developed with the help of RSM using MINITAB-16 software and finally the optimal and predicated results are also verified with the help of confirmation experiments.
