  • Word sense disambiguation is an important problem of natural language processing and ontology in the field of computational linguistics. It is defined as identifying the exact sense of a word which is used in the sentence. It is used in various applications of natural language processing like machine translation, information extraction and text mining, information retrieval etc. This survey paper describes the various approaches adopted for word sense disambiguation such as dictionary and knowledge based approaches, supervised approaches, semi-supervised approaches and unsupervised approaches.
