  • Abstract:
  • Benzimidazole Schiff base ligand of 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy benzaldehyde and o-phenylene diamine, acts as anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent. Recent studies reveal their ability to exhibit anti-proliferative, anticancer, antioxidant properties in drug chemistry. In this work, 4-[1-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]-2-methoxyphenol ligand and the chelating mixed acac complex of 4-[1-(4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl]-2-methoxyphenol were prepared by microwave assisted, are reported. All the isolated Schiff base ligand and mixed acac metal complex were characterized by using IR, 1H NMR, UV-VIS and TGA/DTA analysis. The biological activities of all the isolated ligands and their corresponding mixed acac metal complexes have been used to screening against the microorganisms both gram positive and gram negative and the results were compared with standard.
