Abstract
One of the most important challenges to IoT success is how to protect yourself and unlock billions of transactions with IoT devices per day, an issue that has persisted despite significant research efforts over the past few years. On the other hand, blockchain-based algorithms disrupt today's cryptocurrency markets and demonstrate great power, because they offer a distributed transaction log that cannot be interrupted or controlled by a single organization. While blockchain may present itself as the solution to all IoT security and privacy challenges, significant research efforts still need to be made to optimize computation-intact blockchain algorithms for robust power and performance on today's IoT devices. In this paper, we provide an overview of the existing literature on the IoT block chain topic, and present a roadmap of research challenges that will need to be considered in order to implement the use of block chain technology in IoT.
