Abstract
In this article we examine the ways in which feminist methodology has led to re-search. Feminist methodology led to new ways of seeing. The previously invisible aspects of social life were made visible. This also led to the introduction of gendered dimensions in research. Consequently, the dominant epistemes and existing knowledge structures were rearticulated. Feminist methodologies in research believe that research should be reflexive and should aim for gender equality and social justice. These methodologies challenged traditional ways of knowledge creation and pointed out the close interlinkages with the power structures of society. Feminist research also stresses on the affective turn believing that emotions play an important part in re- searching the social world. Development of feminist methodology and theory cannot be seen independent of development of theory in sociology. The progress of sociological theory from a positivist approach to a more critical approach is also reflected in the development of feminist methodologies.
