This overview examines the evolution of the field from antiquated methodologies to contemporary approaches, emphasizing its pivotal function in ascertaining post-mortem intervals (PMIs) and furnishing background information for inquiries into deaths. The identification of forensic insects, their life cycles, and the effects of temperature and humidity on insect growth are all covered in the review. Insect evidence collection and preservation techniques are covered, with a focus on the importance of precise laboratory analysis. The interdisciplinary aspect of forensic research is highlighted by the integration of entomological evidence with other forensic data. Examined are legal and ethical issues as well, such as the admissibility of evidence and the function of expert witnesses.
