  • Abstract:
  • This study was carried out between September 2022 and August 2023 in nine sampling sites of Deepor Beel. The quality of lake water was evaluated based on locations, and seasons .Water Pollution issues were identified and quality classes were developed. The adaptability of aquatic life forms has also been demonstrated. 13 physio-chemical and four heavy metal parameters were examined in the lake water for such reasons. The relationships among all the parameters and pollutant loads have been evaluated through Pearson correlation, and hierarchical cluster analysis. Multivariate statistical techniques (ANOVA) are used to examine spatial and temporal variations in water quality. Discriminant analysis on the gauging stations show that there is small difference between the sampling stations throughout four seasons investigated. This suggests that the observed variability in the water quality is brought on by anthropogenic activities, mostly the effluents of industries, runoff from agricultural lands and waste water from residential areas into the lake. The results of the study suggest that non-point pollution that is, soil leaching and agricultural contamination may be the primary cause of pollution in this region. These results at the temporal and spatial scales recommend that water monitoring efforts in the future should be scale-sensitive to water management.
