  • Abstract:
  • Substance abuse negatively impacts physical and mental health, often leading to nutritional deficiencies such as thiamine, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. These deficiencies contribute to cognitive impairments, mood instability, and organ damage, exacerbating recovery challenges. Despite evidence supporting the benefits of nutrition in recovery, its integration into treatment programs is limited. This study examines the role of nutrition in mitigating deficiencies, reducing substance-related damage, and enhancing recovery outcomes. Similarly, deficiencies in antioxidants such as vitamins C and E heighten oxidative stress, intensifying organ damage and systemic inflammation.
