  • Abstract:
  • In today's digital age, information literacy has become a crucial skill for students to navigate the vast amount of information available online. Library management software (LMS) plays a vital role in enhancing information literacy among students by providing access to relevant information, improving search skills, and promoting critical thinking. However, the effectiveness of LMS in enhancing information literacy among students in Kashmir universities remains unexplored. This study seeks to explore the role of LMS in improving information literacy among students in Kashmir universities. A survey was conducted with 500 students across five universities in Kashmir to gather data on their demographics, information literacy abilities, and LMS usage. The findings reveal that 70% of students utilized LMS to access library resources, leading to notable improvements in search skills (60%) and critical thinking abilities (55%). The results of this study emphasize the significance of LMS in improving information literacy among students in Kashmir universities. The study suggests that libraries should focus on using LMS to offer access to information and foster information literacy skills. Additionally, it recommends that universities incorporate information literacy into their curriculum to help students develop the crucial skills needed for academic success.
