abstract = {Nidra is considered as one of most stable pillars in ayurveda amongst three pillars i.e. ahaar, nidra, brahmcharya. Nidra is defined as asleep which is very important for maintaining normal physiological activities of body. It governs in maintaining overall health and well-being. Nidra/Sleep keeps balance of all physiological activities of body and mind. Sleep is very essential because it affects our physical as well as mental health. When the Mana gets exhausted or Indriya become inactive/lethargy then one gets sleep. Sleep is a form of Tamas and is predominent of Tamas i.e. generally, in night. The lack of Nidra due to vitiated Dosh may cause “Nidranasha”. Nidranasha is hetu/cause for many diseases like depression, mental illness, digestive ailments etc.},
