abstract = {Amrita Pritam, a towering figure in Punjabi literature, is often celebrated for her unflinching portrayal of female suffering and societal injustices. However, a closer examination of her work reveals a powerful and nuanced form of "positive feminism" that transcends mere victimhood narratives. This paper argues that Pritam's literature, while acknowledging the constraints imposed on women, actively celebrates their resilience, celebrates their agency, and highlights the transformative power of female solidarity. Through an analysis of selected novels, poems, and short stories, this research will demonstrate how Pritam constructs female characters who, despite facing oppression, exhibit inner strength, challenge patriarchal norms, and forge meaningful connections with other women, offering a vision of female empowerment that resonates with contemporary feminist ideals. This paper contributes to a richer understanding of Pritam's work, moving beyond simplistic interpretations of her as solely a chronicler of female pain and recognizing her as a significant contributor to the development of a positive and empowering feminist consciousness in South Asia.},
