  • Abstract:
  • Echinacea purpurea, a widely studied medicinal plant, is rich in diverse phytochemicals including alkamides, caffeic acid derivatives, polysaccharides, and flavonoids. These bioactive compounds contribute to its notable pharmacological properties such as immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial effects. The plant’s immunostimulatory activity is primarily attributed to its polysaccharides and alkamides, which enhance innate and adaptive immune responses. Additionally, E. purpurea exhibits potential in managing respiratory infections and inflammation-related conditions. This review consolidates current knowledge on the phytochemical composition and pharmacological activities of Echinacea purpurea, highlighting its therapeutic potential and underlying mechanisms of action.
