abstract = {In recent years, the rapid growth of infrastructure and urban development has increased the need for efficient and sustainable monitoring systems. Conventional methods of infrastructure inspection are manual, time-consuming, and lack real-time monitoring capabilities, which may lead to delayed detection of structural issues and increased maintenance costs. To address these challenges, this project presents the development of a Smart Monitoring System for Sustainable Infrastructure using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.
The proposed system utilizes sensors such as temperature sensors to continuously monitor important structural parameters. These sensors are connected to a microcontroller unit, which collects and processes the data in real time. The collected data is then transmitted to a cloud platform through wireless communication, allowing remote monitoring through a dashboard or mobile application.
The system is designed to generate alerts when the monitored parameters exceed predefined safety limits, enabling early detection of potential structural failures. This helps in reducing maintenance costs, improving safety, and preventing major damages. Additionally, the system supports efficient resource utilization and reduces unnecessary inspections, thereby contributing to sustainable infrastructure management.
The proposed smart monitoring system is cost-effective, reliable, and easy to implement. It can be applied to various types of infrastructure such as bridges, buildings, and water systems.
