Formulation and evaluation of hemantics chocolate to improve hemoglobin

  • One of the commonest public health issues is anemia, especially among children, women, and expectant women. It is marked by a low concentration of hemoglobin or red blood cells, which causes a low oxygen-carrying capacity of blood. The symptoms of this condition include fatigue, weakness, dizziness, and shortness of breath. Nutritional deficiency (iron deficiency in particular) and deficiency of folic acid, vitamin B12, and vitamin A are the main causes of anemia. The given work is devoted to the design of a hematinic preparation (e.g., herbal chocolate or supplement), which will help to achieve the desired level of hemoglobin in a natural and patient-friendly way. Different natural ingredients that are high in iron and nutrients were identified and developed into an acceptable dosage form. Parameters that were tested in the prepared formulations include physical appearance, pH, weight variation, thickness, and stability. The findings revealed that the formulation that had been developed had good stability, acceptable physical appearance, and non-irritating skin. The paper has pointed out the prospects of herbal and nutraceutical formulations as being an alternative to traditional iron supplements that have side effects. This study serves the purpose of coming up with cost-efficient and patient-adhering interventions in the management of anemia.
