abstract = {The global financial services industry is undergoing rapid transformation driven by embedded finance, real-time payments, intelligent commerce systems, cloud-native banking, smart mobility ecosystems, and digital identity infrastructure. Merchant acquiring systems, traditionally designed for payment acceptance and transaction settlement, are increasingly evolving into integrated embedded financial ecosystems capable of supporting customer onboarding, real-time financial product issuance, embedded lending, intelligent fraud management, mobility-linked commerce, and context-aware payment authentication.
Globally, payment ecosystems across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and emerging markets are witnessing convergence between merchant acquiring infrastructure, digital banking, artificial intelligence-driven underwriting systems, tokenized payment architectures, smart POS ecosystems, transportation-linked commerce, and cloud-based payment orchestration platforms. Simultaneously, the rapid expansion of real-time digital payment systems and QR-based merchant ecosystems has increased exposure to fraud risks including merchant impersonation, QR-code manipulation, phishing attacks, synthetic identity fraud, and unauthorized payment initiation.
This study proposes a globally scalable conceptual framework positioning merchant acquiring infrastructure not merely as a transaction acceptance layer, but as a foundational embedded financial ecosystem capable of supporting real-time debit and credit card issuance, RFID-enabled merchant commerce, intelligent onboarding systems, and advanced payment authentication mechanisms. The proposed framework integrates merchant acquiring systems, digital KYC infrastructure, AI-based underwriting, tokenization frameworks, RFID-enabled proximity validation, cloud-native payment orchestration, smart mobility ecosystems, and intelligent fraud monitoring architectures.
The paper further examines RFID-enabled merchant validation and proximity authentication as supplementary fraud mitigation layers for real-time payment systems including UPI, instant payments, QR-based commerce, and contactless merchant ecosystems. The study contributes to emerging literature on embedded finance, merchant acquiring innovation, digital payment security, intelligent commerce ecosystems, mobility-linked finance, and real-time financial systems by proposing a globally relevant framework for next-generation embedded financial infrastructure.},
