  • With an increasing focus on environmental issues, stricter regulations, and a change in the way consumers think, it is no surprise that the global hospitality industry is turning towards sustainable practices. Green certifications and standards are a great way for hotels to operate in an environmentally friendly manner. This paper investigates the leading green certifications in the hotel industry, their requirements, advantages and disadvantages, and assesses how they contribute to the development of sustainable tourism.
