  • Abstract:
  • This paper presents a comparative performance analysis of a Fractional Order Chelyshkov Function (FCHF)–based numerical scheme for solving fractional optimal control problems (FOCPs). The proposed approach is benchmarked against classical spectral method based on Legendre polynomials and the Mamadu Variational Iteration Method (MVIM). Performance is assessed using key numerical indicators including -error, convergence behavior, computational runtime, and solution smoothness. Using identical test problems and discretization settings, the results demonstrate that the FCHF-based scheme achieves superior accuracy with fewer basis functions while maintaining strong numerical stability. Furthermore, the method produces smooth state and control trajectories without Gibbs-type 0scillation.These findings establish the FCHF-based numerical scheme as an efficient alternative solution scheme for FCOPs.
